Prizes were awarded to sailors who sent in a description or story and photos reporting on their Sailstice 2002 experience, as well as a random drawing of registrants. Approximately 50 Summer Sailstice sailors were awarded prizes. Recipients can expect to receive their prizes directly from the industry donor.
Summer Sailstice is a new sailing event. As Steve Benbow, who gathered friends and family to sail windsurfers in Morehead City, NC said, "It's a great idea, it's fun and is now a tradition". The goal is to inspire a summer sailing holiday for all sailors in the Northern Hemisphere and celebrate in any way that suits their region. All sailors everywhere are welcome to register and share any ideas for Summer Sailstice 2003 on the website summersailstice.com.
summersailstice.com is designed so people can find crew, a boat to crew on, announce their individual participation or offer to host a gathering or raft up, enabling sailors to connect with various Summer Sailstice celebrations in their area. Check out the site to sign up and explore locations near you. Summer Sailstice is your day to celebrate sailing with other sailors all over the world just as you choose. Sail on your own, with a group, start a Summer Sailstice Regatta - whatever suits your style. Importantly, have fun and enjoy the sailing season.
